Mental Information

Personality: Ryu at first appears to be stoic and indifferent, but in actuality, he is a severely disturbed individual, and much like his partner, Rin, he takes sadistic delight in killing for fun and has a vicious penchant for killing. He is extremely loyal to Rin, trusting her to the highest degree, and values honor above all else. He is unwavering in his loyalty to his mistress, Izumi, he would not hesitate to sacrifice his own life to protect her and Rin.

Build: Ryu is tall and lanky, because of all the training he had done as one of Izumi's top assassins and personal bodyguard, he has toned muscles, though he is built more for speed than for power, allowing him to evade and dodge attacks with relative ease.
Defining Marks: Ryu has a half of a dragon tattoo on his back, when standing side by side with Rin, the full tattoo of two intertwined dragons is formed.

Strengths: Ryu has a good amount of strength in his arms and legs, though most of the time he'll block and then counterattack if he can't attack in time. Although Ryu isn't as heavily built, his stamina is quite high, so he can last in a fight for a good amount of time, and take quite a few hits. Ryu is very loyal to Rin, and would never abandon her.
Weaknesses: Ryu is loyal to Rin, and would never abandon her no matter what, potentially putting his life at risk. Although his stamina is high, if a battle wears on for too long, he'll grow tired eventually, which may just work against him. Also, if he's faced against a huge opponent with lots of muscles, his attacks may not inflict damage, which will work against him.

History Information

History: Ryu was the first born and only son of the second boss of the second most powerful Yakuza gang in Tokyo. However, he doesn't remember his parents. He has only the fuzziest of memories of them. They were killed when he was five years old. With no one to take care of him, he became a thief, stealing from people to feed himself. This was how he took care of himself for 5 years, sometimes he stole money, sometimes he stole food. His only companions were tattered magazines he found in the trash, and he taught himself to read them. Over time, he grew stronger. When he was ten, another orphan - a girl twice his age - mocked him on the streets and attempted to steal his food. The girl found herself pummeled to within inches of her life. At that exact moment, he was spotted by the leader of a small but growing Yakuza clan, Izumi Ogawa. Impressed with Ryu, she had him taken in to the clan, and was taught Ninjutsu alongside his eventual partner and fellow assassin and bodyguard, Rin Tsuchiki. Although the reasoning was so he could defend himself, or so he believed, in actuality, it was the start of his eventual training to become an assassin. Growing up, he had a childhood just like every other kid, and was sent to elementary school, though like all kids, he rather play than study.

When Ryu was 14, he witnessed his best friend, Atsuki Watanabe, and Rin's best friend, get killed by a rival Yakuza clan member when they were ambushed, right in front of their eyes. As a result of Atsuki's death, coupled with Ryu's assassin teachings, to never show emotion, sparked Ryu's eventual descent into madness. Two years later, Izumi appointed Ryu and Rin, whom were the top two assassins in the clan, as her personal bodyguards. Since that night, Ryu gradually became sadistic, but still followed the Bushido code that was mentally ingrained into him. A year later, just as Ryu entered into his final year of high school, Izumi had a job for him. She sent him to the United States, in order to eliminate the leader of a defiant rival Yakuza clan, whom had fled to San Francisco, and Ryu was never one to disobey an order, unaware that Rin had followed him. By the time he found out, she was already in San Francisco. The two of them set out to complete the job, and they succeeded, but at a cost. The police swarmed the Japanese restaurant that had been the temporary headquarters of the leader, arresting Ryu and Rin on the spot.

The two of them were sentenced to a youth prison for 2 years, and shared a cell, because no matter how much the judge had threatened them, they refused to be parted from each other. 2 years later, they were released, only to be shipped to Boston as part of President O'Kane's new "order." Izumi, being the boss of all bosses and the "Queen of Tokyo's underworld", was unable to leave to welcome Ryu and Rin back from prison, instead, she sent the lowest member of her intermediate guard to Boston, whom, with the money she sent with him, bought a piece of land and had a Japanese house built on it for the three of them.

Description of Unnatural Ability: Ryū is able to manipulate and control wind. From the light breezes of autumn to the raging power of a hurricane, Ryū can and will control it all.

The distance the "burst" can be used at and the distance the opponent is sent away increases with each level.

Level 1: Hermes' Wind
Ryū can compress the wind around him and aiming at his opponent, he can use the wind to send his opponent back one meter only, or use it to block his opponent's strikes. He has to be at least half an arm length or less for it to work.
